St Christopher Sterling Silver Medal
This sterling medal depicts St. Christopher carrying the Christ child across a river and the name Christopher means "Christ bearer". Although little is known of him, according to tradition he lived during the third century and was a large, strong man. He was converted to Christianity and desired to show his love for God. Having no gift for writing or preaching, he built a hut beside a strongly flowing river where travellers would sometimes be swept away attempting to cross it. He carried them across on his shoulders in an act of Christian charity. One day a small child asked to be carried across. With the child on his shoulders, Christopher set off across the river but at each step the child grew heavier. When he got to the other side the child revealed himself to Christopher as the Christ child and told him to go back across the river and plant his staff beside his hut where it would bloom. This he did and when he saw the staff bloom he realised how he had been blessed. His feast day is July 25th. St Christopher is the patron saint of travellers, truck drivers, and protection against storms and sudden death. The medal is approx. 18 mm high x 11 mm wide and comes on a 45 cm stainless steel chain. Click Add To Cart to order this product.
